Paramount Mattress - The Kiwi Collection

Sustainable - Versatile - Resilient - Pure

Wool is known as one the world’s healthiest and most comfortable bedding materials. Numerous studies have shown that wool’s natural support characteristics, insulating properties and ability to breathe result in more peaceful and restorative sleep.

What makes Joma Wool® so unique?

Joma Wool® is further enhanced through a special crimping process that increases the natural bends along each wool fiber. As a result, Joma Wool® is softer, with more loft and greater resistance to compression, helping you enjoy night after night of naturally better sleep.

Non-Allergenic
Wool fibers have scales which trap dust, mould spores and other allergens, removing them from the air and preventing them from being ingested. Joma Wool is not known to cause allergies and as a substrate does not promote bacterial growth.

Superior Flame Resistance
The high keratin and moisture content of wool make it naturally resistant to burning. It is difficult to set alight and it tends to extinguish itself. Joma Wool offers the safety and peace of mind of flam resistance without the need for harmful chemicals.

Liquid Repellent
Each wool fibre has a water repellent outer surface. Called the ‘hydrophobic epicuticle’ this naturally formed barrier causes water to bead up and run off, making wool an ideal material for mattresses and bedding.

Vapor Absorbent
While wool’s outer layer repels liquid, the fibre’s naturally occurring proteins and microscopic pores actually attract and absorb water vapour. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling clammy and damp.

Added Resilience & Loft
A wool fibre can be bent over 20,000 times without breaking and still have the power to return to its original shape. Our unique crimping process adds an impressive 40%-50% more bulk, increasing overall resilience and adding volume without weight.

Natural Thermal Regulation

Wool traps air within its fibres making it and exceptional insulator that keeps sleepers cool in summer and warm in winter. Temperature changes within wool and gradual, creating a stable ‘microclimate’ which enables a more rested night’s sleep.

Environmentally Friendly

Pure wool is 100% natural, 100% renewable and 100% biodegradable. Wool locks up more than twice its weight in CO2. It is a sustainably produced, environmentally friendly material which has been used for thousands of years around the world.

Animal Welfare

Our wool comes from farmers who abide by New Zealand’s strict regulations around animal welfare. We work with those who safeguard the well-being of their sheep and promote healthy ecosystems amongst their grazing pastures.
